Oh, Family Day…how lucky our fellow Canadians are, living in other provinces. While we don’t get a day off to play in the snow we can still fill our weekend with fun adventures that make us feel like we’re on a staycation.
Fete des Neiges
If we haven’t visited this (free) winter wonderland yet, we can still enjoy the last weekend of family fun featuring outdoor winter sports like skating and tubing, horse drawn carriage rides and zip lines.

Pio Amusement Centre
This all-new recreation centre ($19) features rides, a maze, bowling alley, mascots and a café with a healthy menu, to make for a full day of fun!

Granby Zoo
We never thought of visiting the animals (free – $19) in wintertime but they are out in full force. Weekends even include a carnival featuring ice sculptures and a fire breather.

Winterlude
If we’re looking to get out of the city for just a day, this celebration in the capital features a slew of activities from outdoor sports to art to food to science (prices vary). Not to mention the world’s biggest outdoor rink.

Children’s Museum
We feel like we’re in a different city when we visit this museum (free-$13), perfect for the younger set. A day of make-believe awaits with a real fire truck and pretend grocery store, veterinary hospital and more.
