Apple-Picking in the Vancouver Area

Apple pies, apple crisps, apple strudels, and applesauce—no matter how you enjoy it, there’s nothing like the taste of fall’s apple harvest. And our favourite place to stock up? The Applebarn Pumpkin Farm in Abbotsford. With more than just apples, here are five great things we love about Applebarn.
Cider making
Applebarn makes cider on-site and, on weekends, visitors can watch the process through a theatre window in the store. We love that they offer samples so we can taste just how delicious the drink is for ourselves.
Animals
Let’s face it—kids and animals just seem drawn to each other. It’s no wonder that our little ones love the petting farm at Applebarn. With goats, sheep and bunnies, there was lots of snuggling going on (although the goats might not have been as thrilled as our kids).
Bees
While we admit to being a bit nervous around bees, we’re still fascinated by them. The glass observation beehive at Applebarn is the perfect way for us to view them up close without worrying about getting stung.
The Jumping Pillow
We could have left the kids on the jumping pillow all day and they would have been perfectly content (and exhausted at the end of the day). The brightly-coloured giant bouncing area is a great place to set the kids loose and let them burn off energy.
Apples
Of course, Applebarn has lots of apples to choose from. With nine different kinds, including Gala, Honeycrisp, Jonagold and Fuji, the toughest part is deciding what kind to get. While we love the u-pick option with kid-friendly low-hanging fruit, there are also bags of pre-picked apples (from $4) available for purchase in the store.
