We love the macaroni and glitter masterpiece on the fridge; we just don’t like the mess it took to create it.
Fan-tidy Vancouver mom Minna Simko has come up with a sweet solution to keep the paint splatters on the paper and off our pint-sized Picassos. Messy Kid Products offers a line of easy-to-clean smocks (from $20) that will keep our crafters’ clothes out of the washing machine (even if it’s only for an extra hour or two).
These kimono-style tops are made from colourful, waterproof fabric. Or, for our green crafter, pick a smock made from recycled vinyl tablecloths. When the artistic mood passes, kid-friendly Velcro closures make these smocks easy to get off, to get them moving on to the next activity (though we think wearing them all day is just fine).
A quick rinse under the tap and they’re clean (the smock that is).
Oh and these smocks aren’t just for the artsy fartsy – they provide a protective shield between sticky cookie dough and our junior chefs, too.
Messy kids are happy kids -- as long as they don’t get too messy.
