From yoga with baby to sports and karate lessons, many of us lead an active family lifestyle. When our six-year-old asked us if she could go skydiving, we were not surprised, but needed a creative substitute – and quick.
Luckily, Laval-based SkyVenture came to the rescue with a fun, family-friendly alternative. Offering Montreal’s first free-fall simulator, SkyVenture allows anyone from ages four and up to experience what it would be like to skydive without the need for a plane (letting every parent breathe a sigh of relief).
The entire experience (introductory packages start at $65) from registration to flight is extremely organized and professional. Families are fitted with flight suits, helmets, goggles and earplugs, and then led through training by qualified instructors. Once completed, each person is escorted into the pre-flight chamber and the fun begins.
All members have two 60-second flights (equivalent to two skydiving jumps). The expert is constantly inside the chamber and guides through all sorts of cool stunts and moves that can only be outdone by the smiles that appear on everyone’s face. A DVD of the session ($15) is available for bragging rights.
SkyVenture also has a party room for birthday celebrations, although we suggest holding off on the cake until everyone has finished flying.
