While we’re fans of blanket-and-chair forts, a little variety is also good.
Science World ($14, children and adults this spring) recently introduced an area for preschoolers called Imagination Playground, featuring big, blue foam shapes that kids can do whatever they want with — like build forts.
The shapes include curves, tubes and wheels, so kids can put their imaginations and creativity to work. On our visit, we saw one tyke trying to slide his ball faster. After experimenting, the coolness of gravity struck him as he realized a steeper ramp would make the ball zoom. Go figure—you can learn something while you play.
That’s almost as cool as the massive fort we’ve got in our living room right now.
