Take In a Little Take Out

(Jul.10.08)
Our cupboards are bare (á la Mother Hubbard) and it’s not just the dog that’s going hungry.
We wish looking into our own pantry was as exciting as peeking into Pantry, an elegant new boîte dedicated to busy people who want slow food, fast. Why sigh over boxes of KD when we can ooh and ah over and mac and cheese muffins ($2.25), made with three cheeses and a pankocrust?
With Pantry’s baby-welcoming atmosphere and family friendly menu, we enjoyed a well-deserved break over Balzac’s coffee and something made by Pantry’s in-house pastry chef. Vintage toys kept our small ones amused, while we considered Pantry’s many lovely options(like whether or not to share the Owl & Pussycat cookies ($7.95) by Artisan Biscuits).
Healthy take-out food -- made using organic, local and seasonal ingredients, then packaged in eco-friendly containers–makes chewing re-heated pizza sound as appetizing as eating the box it came in. With full-service catering and party platters available, our guests need never know our shelf shame (nothing but low-fat crackers and packaged noodles).
Owners Liz Dnieper-Bolton and Greg Bolton’s goal of providing patrons with good feelings alongside great products guarantees we’ll be considering Pantry’swares take-in, rather than take-out.
