Dear Santa (you big, strong, handsome man, you),
Take a load off and have some cognac (it’s Courvoisier VSOP ― you won’t want to leave it).
I am aware that my son sent you a list of items he’s hoping you’ll bring; feel free to nix the remote control dinosaur and the key-operated car. I did manage to score a cool electric train set, so please don’t leave him one. He’ll love anything, so don’t go overboard ― that’s what grandparents are for.
On that note, please take some of his gifts to kids who might not have enough. He’ll be happy to hear that he helped out.
Santa, there’s also something I really want this year. I’ve been a good girl (what with being a loving mom to an amazing kid and working full time), so I think I deserve it and I’m hoping you’ll agree...
Could you please give me some free time? The last few years have been pretty full with my career and motherhood. Not that I don’t love both, but I need some time off. If you could find that in your bag, I’d really love it.
