I’ve recently become pregnant, and all of a sudden, my breasts have a mind of their own. What should I be looking for in maternity bras? Any brand/product suggestions?

Every woman’s pregnancy is different, so I can't tell you exactly what changes are going to happen to your body. At this stage, you want a maternity bra that will allow for you to grow a bit more. You need a bra to fit you, but you have to have flexibility with that. This is why we like to start in wireless bras. There are no wires confining you to a certain size. You can change size in the cup and back and not have to buy a new bra. Sometimes this will be a nursing bra, which can be more economical.
- Make sure the bra can be loosened in the band by at least one hook. This offers space as your belly, ribs and body grow a bit over the months. Any more and the band will ride up and you will not get enough support.
- The cup should fit well if not a tiny bit deeper (when your breast has been lifted into the cup) so you have freedom to grow. You should try a shirt on to see if the shape is good for you and you should sit down to see if the band is comfortable. I always like to have moms lift their arms forward as well to make sure there is plenty of comfort where the arms meet the body.
