Being hardcore west-coasters, we can’t help but love spotting children’s books by local authors (just ask the staff at Kidsbooks). Add to that a good cause, and we’re over the moon.
Vancouver mama Jane Hutchison is our latest find. Her book, Kerwin the Ketchup Bottle (Trafford Publishing, $10) is now our kiddo’s favourite read. It’s not just because of its touching tale of a condiment losing its cool as it begins to run low. It’s not just the happy ending of a young boy recycling the ketchup bottle into a bath toy. It’s not just because we’re floored that Jane had written this after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. It’s the fact that partial proceeds of every sale of the book will go towards the Pacific Parkinson's Research Institute.
Talk about a page-turner.
