Playdough is an amazing tool for sensory and imaginative play. Making it together is a great way for little ones to learn about measuring, math and making colours. Quick and easy to whip together with ordinary pantry ingredients, it’s almost as fun to make as it is to play with.
Playdough Recipe
You’ll need:
2 cups of flour
2 cups of warm water
1 cup salt
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
1 tablespoon of cream of tartar
rubber gloves (optional)
Directions:
- Place all the ingredients in a pot.
- Stir under low heat until everything is mixed.
- Continue to stir until all the ingredients become tacky and take on a slight sheen. If the dough still seems sticky, keep on cooking it! The process should take about 10-15 minutes.
- Remove dough and place on cutting board. Let cool.
- Divide dough into equal parts and roll into balls.
- Put on rubber gloves to avoid staining your hands. Squeeze food colouring onto dough.
- Knead the playdough until the colours are no longer streaky.
- You’re ready to play!
After you’re done playing with your dough, place it in plastic or glass containers and store in the fridge until next time.
Keep away from pets. Dogs, especially, seem to think this dough is a tasty treat.
