Yellow Jersey Training

Our toddler has just mastered the art of going diaper free. It’s time to move on to training for the Tour de France. What? Too drastic? We think not. At least, that’s what we’ve come to realize after our last stroll through Little Italy. Like a BikeWhen we saw another two-year-old riding what looked like a bike, we knew training season had begun. The appropriately named Like A Bike ($300) is a masterpiece of European design and quality (yet oh-so-perfect for a race through Plage des Iles).

Completely made out of wood, its ultra light frame has no pedals and is entirely foot propelled. It’s cleverly designed to teach our little Armstrong wannabes (2 years and up) coordination and balance as they ride along at their own pace, and makes the leap to a real bike much less dramatic. Cushioned seats (available in red, blue or green) can be adjusted to account for our athlete’s growth spurts. Padding at the joints provides easier controlled steering and leaves no place for little fingers to get pinched. (How will she accept her trophy with boo-boo’ed fingers?)

Now back to daydreaming about that victory outfit. (Yellow is so her colour.)
