Oh, Stratford! Those days of fudge shopping and seeing Shakespearean plays are long gone for us, now that our tyke’s nap is during matinee hours. But as the saying goes, if you can’t go to the show, make the show come to you. Jen Gould’s Music SoupThat’s why we’re popping Jen Gould’s Music Soup CD ($15.99) into the player every chance we get. The Stratford Festival veteran has combined her gift of song with her love of children in this fun-filled album. We may be fond of Jen’s angelic voice, but our brood goes gaga over her fun lyrics. Bonny Boone tells the story of a misfit in a catchy jazz rhythm (perfect for toddler interpretive dance). You and Me celebrates differences with gorgeous harmonies. And Yummy in My Tummy is…well we have to admit it’s even helpful for us since it hides messages about balanced diets in an oh-so-fun to sing tune.

We may not be seeing Graham Greene in the flesh at Stratford this season. But thanks to Music Soup, we get singing encores from our child during bath time.
