We can finally put away those old sock puppets and turn to a sweeter, hipper-looking solution for eco-friendly toys.
Founded by Majorie Labrèque Lepage and Benoit Massé, Velvet Moustache is a tasteful blend of ecology, ethics, fun and creativity. Offering whimsical products made of organic and recycled materials – these aren’t your ordinary eco-toys.
The company's key collections feature quirky stuffed animals and one-of-a-kind toys. We adore their take on traditional cute animals, like Panda Mouru ($40) and The Chick ($40). Their adorable “toys gone bad” like Arctic Warriors ($50) and Bad Design Kills ($25) make Ugly Dolls look so 2005.
We love that the designers can also create custom products that match a specific décor or represent a special occasion like Canadiens CH ($30-45) that was specifically made to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Montreal Canadiens (Go Habs Go!).
A locally-made toy that doesn’t have us stressing about our carbon footprint (or whatever news item freaks us out now that we’ve spawned)? We think that equals fun.
