We all know exercising at home is an affordable and easy way to stay in tiptop shape. But how to stay motivated when the couch is right there?
We’ve got a few simple tips that should help give you the gentle push you need to keep going:
Be realistic. If you find you’re more apt to hit the snooze button than stick to your routine, it could be your goals aren’t the right ones. If you’re trying to lose 10 lbs by Fall with light yoga once a week, that’s likely to be an uphill battle. The more realistic your goals, the easier they’ll be to keep (and stay motivated!).
Make a schedule. Once you’ve established your truegoals, make a schedule that’s easy to keep. If you have a job that keeps you working late, perhaps the plan to pop in your pilates DVD when you get home isn’t the best move. Set your alarm to get up and do it before you leave for work. That’s the beauty of working out at home; you can do it whenever it’s most convenient!
Reward yourself! Just because you aren’t working out at a gym doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be proud of yourself. Even light cardio (stairs, skipping, pushups and crunches) a few times a week is a great way to stay healthy. If you’ve made goals, a schedule and have stuck to it for a month, reward yourself! This is probably the best way to stay motivated.
