We spend a lot of time in the kitchen (even if it’s only out of necessity) so anything that saves us time, is priceless. And these short cuts top our list.
From Too Hot to Just Right
There’s nothing more frustrating than a piping hot meal that’s running dangerously close to bedtime. Tip: Throw a handful of frozen peas into their meal – this will cool the food down quickly and adds nutrition.
Defrosting Made Easy
Whether we spent too much time at the park, or our afternoon meeting went late, having pre-planned (and therefore totally counting on) defrosting meat becomes an impossible task. Tip: Try running under cool water; believe it or not, it’ll speed up the thaw time.
Meat Thermometer
Even the most seasoned cooks have burned or undercooked meat and those mishaps always mean a much-delayed dinner. Tip: A meat thermometer is an inexpensive way to ensure your meat is cooked properly, and to a safe temperature 100% of the time.
Aluminum Foil
Scrubbing and soaking baking pans aren’t the best way to spend half an hour after dinner. Tip: Line your baking pan with aluminum foil. Once your dish is done, simply toss the foil (or rinse and re-use – how green!) and your pan slides right back in the drawer.
