About Joanna Track
Four years ago, Sweetspot.ca Founder Joanna Track settled down with her darling husband and his two adorable young boys. She’s since added “new mom” to her long list of achievements with the addition of baby Teddy. Check back weekly for her tales of sweet family life.
Earlier today, Wiarton Willie proclaimed there would be 6 more weeks of winter. And while I don’t put too much stock into the weather predictions of a rodent, I do feel like my life has turned into its own perpetual Groundhog Day.
It seems there always comes that pinnacle moment in every season where I am completely burned out from my current wardrobe, yet it’s too premature to start cracking out next season’s styles. And as a devotee to instant gratification, purchasing items now in anticipation for Spring doesn’t really do it for me.
Truth be told, with a baby on the way this summer I will be skipping out on most of this Spring’s offerings (the upside is that will give me more rationale, and budget, to go crazy in my favourite season, Fall). But that hasn’t stopped me from fantasizing about fancy new frost-free fashions (say that five times fast!).
So I’ve been scouring the sites to get some inspiration. My absolute favourite site to surf is net-a-porter.com. Admittedly it is not the most budget friendly selection of items, but I love checking out their Outfit View for great ideas on how to wear different pieces.
Another site that I love for scoping the trends is shopbop.com. Every season they put together a look book with trends for the season. Right now their Spring trends guide is up and a few items have caught my eye, like the Whitley Kros Spring Tank and the Langdale Leather Motorcycle Jacket by Ever (if only I didn’t look like I just swallowed a watermelon, I would be filling my cart right now!).
And when I’m in the mood to get up close and personal with the new trends, I just hop downstairs to wander through Holt Renfrew (trivia: did you know that Sweetspot headquarters is right above the Holt’s Bloor Street store? Now that’s kismet). Whether it’s the neutral basics of Theory and James Perse, or the bursts of colour from Missoni and Gucci, my heart starts beating in anticipation of sunny days ahead.
So Willie can wile away for another 6 weeks, but I’ve already got a little Spring in my step!
