Many people say pregnancy is sexy. And while I think it is a beautiful thing, I find “sexy” to be a strange description. I mean, is it universally sexy? Or just to your significant other?
If the answer is that it is universally sexy then I’m undecided if that’s endearing or creepy. I mean, do you really want some random stranger giving you the eye or whistle when you’re waddling around?
In any case, recently I’ve had two opportunities to unleash my inner Hot Mama. A few weeks ago I took the plunge and had pregnancy photos taken. I went to see my friend Helen Tansey who is the sweetest, most lovely and talented photographer (she’s done many of my professional shots in the past). I have to say it was an awkward, yet enlightening experience. At the one time in my life when I least want to show skin, there I was stripped down to my skivvies showing it all off. In the end it turned out to be a great experience with some fantastic photographs.
But now the question is, what the heck am I supposed to do with these photos? They certainly aren’t coffee table material, and besides my husband and parents, there doesn’t seem to be a long list of people vying to take a look at them. So in order to get my money’s worth I decided to share a couple with all of you!
Then yesterday, I was flattered by the opportunity to participate in a TV shoot for ETalk . The topic was celebrity pregnancy fashion and they were wardrobing some “real pregnant women” in celebrity looks. The shoot took place at one of my favourite maternity stores, Belly. I had the honour of showing the looks of Ellen Pompeo and Heidi Klum (minus about 6 inches and plus 40 pounds!). Again, it was somewhat ironic to be strutting my stuff, when I can barely pack myself into my own clothes, but it was lots of fun. If you’d like to check it out, it will be on ETalk tomorrow, Wednesday night, at 7pm EST.
But the question still remains, is pregnancy hot or not?
Note to my readers: Next week will be my final blog post before I take a hiatus to become a Sweetmama! And just before I celebrate that birth, we are celebrating the birth of Sweetspot this Thursday in Toronto. I’d love to have you celebrate with us, so click here for all the details.

Lights, Camera, Action! ETalk shoot.
