Two Steps Back
potty tales #7 canada

Oh man, we were doing so well! And then my potty champ came down with a cold and everything went out the window. Or so I think. I feel like we’ve reached a potty training plateau. No, actually I feel like we’re sliding back downhill.
Suddenly I’m missing her signals, or she’s lost interest and not signalling. I’m so confused! If I ask her if she has to go potty, she says no, even though her Pull Up is dry and I’ve seen her down enough milk to give me the urge.
Or she sits on the potty, hands me five books to read her and does nothing. Then she stands up, says, “Bye-bye pee-pee” (to her dry potty) and then runs away before I can get her in a fresh pair of training pants. Then she pees on her bedroom floor. Ack! Serenity now!
In fact, lately the only time she seems to make pee-pee in the potty is when I’m trying to put her to bed. She insists on getting out of bed to go pee. It might be a tactic to delay bedtime, but I’ll take what I can get.
My bloggy pal Nicole Lee sent me this doodle when I was training my son. I think her funny flow chart perfectly captures what we’re going through right now. (I use “we” but I mean “me” -- interestingly, my husband isn’t bothered by this nearly as much as I am.)

Doodle by Lee. The code for this doodle and other doodles you can use on your blog can be found at Doodles.
I’m trying to be patient, to keep up the words of encouragement, but I’m going to end up resorting to bribes. I just know it. Did you go through this too? Let me know in the comments below.
