About Sweetmama Editor
Nadine Silverthorne’s love of journaling began in Grade One with the entry, “I am the greatest dancer!” Two babies (and countless diaper changes) later, she has found her home away from home as editor of SweetMama. Don’t miss her humorous bi-weekly accounts of the joys and pains of working while raising them fabulous.

(Sep.03.09)
With school starting this week in half of the country, and next week in the other half, we've had lunches on our brain. Last week we had a great conversation on Twitter about the Worst Lunches Ever (Tongue! Dog food! REALLY!). This week, Lianne Phillipson-Webb showed us some delectable lunch ideas (though I'm still trying to figure out how she convinced her kids to eat pesto or dill -- my eldest shuns all "green stuff".) on video.
Unfortunately, web video=short, so I didn't have time to tell you about all the fabulous containers used in the video. Plus there was a whole section on beverages that ended up on the cutting room floor (so to speak). Here's what may have caught your eye.

Laptop Lunches
These bento style boxes from our Back-to-School Guide might seem pricey, but I just can't get enough of the endless possibilities the inner wee containers offer.
$50. Available at www.chapters.indigo.ca

RuMe Snack Pack
Made from RuMe bag remnant fabric, I will admit that since bringing these home, they've housed more Legos than Goldfish Crackers.
$7. Available at www.goneshopping.ca

Greentainer
We are loving this stainless steel container in my house. With two levels inside, we can store our favourite on-the-go snack and sandwich offerings in one reusable container.
$25. Available at www.kaikids.com

Barbie Thermos Lunch Kit
Who doesn't love Barbie? This kit includes a plastic sipper bottle, but we also showed the Thermos FUNtainer in Batman (Nate's favourite thing ever!). What we didn't show were their great FUNtainer bottles with their stainless steel construction and spill-reducing, flip top/straw combo.
Barbie Lunch Kit, $8. FUNtainer, $20. Available at London Drugs or visit Thermos for other retailers

Special Mention: LunchBots
Gwen at Nayla Natural Care rushed to get a LunchBot to us in time for the shoot (I've given them love before), but dear Expresspost let us down. It's on my desk looking sad for not getting its camera time.
From $17. Available at www.naylanaturalcare.com |

Special Mention: Otterbottles
Made in Calgary, these stainless bottles have an easy-to-use sport spout and are just the right size. Handed mine to the kid with the first cold of the season (yes already) and parked him in front of a video last night.
$16. Available at www.otterbottle.ca
