About Nadine Silverthorne
Nadine Silverthorne’s love of journaling began in Grade One with the entry, “I am the greatest dancer!” Two babies (and countless diaper changes) later, she has found her home away from home as editor of SweetMama. Don’t miss her humorous bi-weekly accounts of the joys and pains of working while raising them fabulous.

Family Time
We got back to the hotel to discover that my parents had decided to visit us. (They couldn't bear even one weekend without seeing my kids!) After some more playground action, we headed to Rusty's at Blue for a casual dinner. Dinner for the six of us, including wine, was a reasonable $150 including tax and tip. My father's usual curmudgeonly mood was replaced by a smiling, relaxed man, who even asked my sister to play pool! (Which, of course, drove my kids insane with joy -- sticks and balls!)
After dinner, we bid Yaya and Dede goodbye and took the kids to heaven -- a.k.a. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. The crafty mom I am, I had taken them in there on the way to breakfast and told them that if they were good all day, we could come back as a reward. After all the apple pie, Nate clearly still had apples on the brain and picked out a classic, red candy apple (which I dropped on his face by accident -- but that's another story). A sweet end to a fantastic day.
