The Price is Right

This past week, I was very fortunate to get a look at what Fisher Price has to offer for the rest of the year. It's August and it's sunny and warm, so a great day to be invited to Ontario Place with my family, where Fisher Price have co-sponsored the Micro Kids preschool play area (along with Staedler).

A true testament to the timelessness of Fisher Price, the room was full of toys I not only recognized from my current home, but also from my own childhood: the Corn Popper, the Chatter Phone (currently relevant thanks to Toy Story 3), the Rock-a-Stack and who can forget L'il Snoopy

While most of the toys at Micro Kids skew young (under age 3), my kids and husband (OK, OK. Me too.) had a blast getting to play in a room full of the latest and greatest Fisher Price toys. Here are our five favourites.

Laugh & Learn Learning Kitchen

Smiling fridge on one side, stove/fridge/oven on the other. It's a shape sorter, a musical wonder and an imagination starter. The only thing it can't do is make dinner.

Dig-n-Ride Bulldozer

I'm pretty sure that if they made this in adult size, my husband would jump on too. I love that there are no instructions required — kids instinctively know to jump on and make vroom vroom sounds.

Laugh n' Learn Shop n' Learn Walker

Only a parent with tired arms could understand the need for this toy. For those unsteady on their feet, this encourages walking. As a sweetspot.ca child, it encouraged my daughter to practice shopping.

Little People Royal Princess Coach

Ah Little People. They're so cute! And this chariot was no exception. I don't know where he came from, but my princess-obsessed daughter even found a prince to make this extra fun.

L'il Zoomers Spinnin' Sounds Speedway

A boy who loves cars rarely outgrows it. My son played next to kids much younger and didn't even mind. Like all Fisher Price toys, the variety of stimulus options on this was wonderful without being overwhelming.
