About Sweetmama Editor

Nadine Silverthorne’s love of journaling began in Grade One with the entry, “I am the greatest dancer!” Two babies (and countless diaper changes) later, she has found her home away from home as editor of SweetMama. Don’t miss her humorous bi-weekly accounts of the joys and pains of working while raising them fabulous.

Gifting for Gleeks

silver spoons: a glee gift guide canada (Dec.20.10)

It's been two weeks since my favourite show (of the moment) ran its holiday episode. And while the episode itself was ho-hum (though I did shed a tear at that Artie scene), I'm missing it. With all the holiday content we've been doing here, I find myself oddly thinking about what I would put under the tree for the cast of Glee. Here are my top picks (after polling the fellow Sweetspot Gleeks):

For Kurt Hummel: I Love Capes Hat

This year's been all about Kurt and the bullying and struggles that arise out of being openly gay. While Kurt's feeling out his new private school uniform, I've been missing his signature capes. If I were his Secret Santa, I'd send him this hat to remind him of who he really is.

For Emma Pilsbury: Beaded Eglantine Cardigan

While it's really tough to say who wears more cardigans (Miss Pilsbury vs. Rachel), I couldn't help but think of everyone's favourite OCD guidance counselor when I saw this one from Anthropologie. For more sartorial fun with Miss Pilsbury, check out the awesome blog: What Would Emma Pilsbury Wear?

For Rachel Berry: American Apparel Knee Socks

For the girl who may have brought back the knee sock, these come in every colour and are a mere $10. Plus they're unisex so she could share with Finn, who has become too dull to get his own gift. (Though since she doesn't actually celebrate Christmas, she might also appreciate this hilarious Nice Jewish Guys calendar, as suggested by our Copywriter, Lori.)

For Sue Sylvester: Tiffany & Co. Whistle

While she was pretty Grinchy in the last episode, let's face it, we're all soft on Sue. I think getting this lovely and fancy whistle might have warmed her tiny heart. (She could wear it with her track suit wedding dress!)

For Puck: Limited Edition Canada Goose Toque

As seen in SweetLife's 64 Perfect Presents, our HR Consultant, Sari, was quick to suggest this toque to warm Puck's semi-shaved, very handsome head. (She's a mom too... funny how we even worry that our favourite TV characters might catch cold!)

For the Cheerios: But I'm a Cheerleader DVD

Oh Brittany, Santana and Quinn, it's not just this funny B-movie (about a girl who gets sent to reformatory camp after her parents think she's a lesbian) that you should watch, but also its starlet Natasha Lyonne's tragic trajectory from coolness to Hep C.

For Mr. Schuester: Anthony Logistics for Men Hair Gel

Because according to Sue Sylvester, he goes through a lot of the stuff maintaining that ferret on his head. And this stuff is especially nice, just like our favourite teacher.

OK fellow Gleeks, I'd love to hear your ideas (I ran out of room for Mercedes, Tina, Mike Chang, Artie and the rest). What would you gift to a Glee character? (I am officially a huge nerd for writing this post, but I'm OK with that. Happy holidays!)

Glee airs on Global TV.
