About Sweetmama Editor
Nadine Silverthorne’s love of journaling began in Grade One with the entry, “I am the greatest dancer!” Two babies (and countless diaper changes) later, she has found her home away from home as editor of SweetMama. Don’t miss her humorous bi-weekly accounts of the joys and pains of working while raising them fabulous.

Welcome to the first ever Sweetmama blog! We're still figuring out what sorts of things we'll house here, but I can guarantee that there are laughs to be had. As Editor, I have the daunting task of going first. (OK, maybe not too daunting...)
I should come clean and announce that I'm not new to blogging. I have had a compulsive need to write down everything I can't say out loud (or will need to say at a later date) since I was very young. I have boxes of journals amassed over three decades. I also happen to have a four and a half year-old personal blog, documenting my journey from fabulous to frumpy and food-covered, to where I am today: Somewhere in the middle.
In the spring of 2005, I found myself unexpectedly expecting. I was married, but was in love with my girl-about-town life and in no rush to start a family. But then the stick turned blue and my life turned upside down.
I channeled the energy of having a secret the best way I knew how: I decided to keep track of everything that was happening to me in journal form... and then surreptitiously post it publicly online. Make sense? (Well it made sense to my hormonal pregnant brain.)
Since that first gateway into blogging, I've given birth to two beautiful children: Nate, who is nearly four, and Lucine (a.k.a. Lucy, Loogoo or Tanko), who is 14 months (and still not sleeping through the night). I have made my husband Jan cringe countless times by needing to rehash our marital woes in HTML. And now I’ll be doing that on an even bigger scale with all of you! (Good thing our benefits plan covers counselling...)
So check back each day for the latest from our contributors: Single mom Rebecca Eckler, stepmom (and Sweetmama founder) Joanna Track, and our undercover daddy, Mo.
I can't wait to see what all of you have to say about the changes here at Sweetmama over the past year. Comments will be enabled soon. Stay tuned. In the meantime, send your comments and questions to yours truly via email.
