I have had a professional crush on Rebecca Brown from afar for some time. As the creator of Bunch Family, she organizes ridiculously fun, cultural and civic-minded events for families in Toronto -- no small feat. Everything from a reading series to an event akin to a kiddie rave, Bunch Family gives urban parents opportunities to feel connected to their city (and the things they love about it), while feeling connected with their kids.

Now Bunch Family is sharing their encyclopedic knowledge of all things cool and family with the world, thanks to the addition of a blog to their site. I can't tell you how many fun facts I learn there. Did you know there's a Superhero Supply Co. in Brooklyn? How about that it's legal to keep chickens in your backyard in Vancouver? The Bunch Family blog is an inspiring compendium of kids and families doing fascinating things across the globe. (For extra Bunch Family fun, check out their Twitter feed!)

And if you live in or near Toronto, be sure to buy tickets for the Bunch Family Salon at OCAD this weekend. With plenty of experts (and recyclables) on hand, your kids will have the chance to build their own mini-city. There's so much going on I won't even do it justice, but the idea behind it is "if we get kids thinking about what makes a city great, we will end up with great cities." That's exactly the kind of optimism and forward thinking we need right now.
