About Sweetmama Editor
Nadine Silverthorne’s love of journaling began in Grade One with the entry, “I am the greatest dancer!” Two babies (and countless diaper changes) later, she has found her home away from home as editor of SweetMama. Don’t miss her humorous bi-weekly accounts of the joys and pains of working while raising them fabulous.
These days I'm busy falling down the Internet rabbit hole while sourcing, writing and editing. Admittedly, I don't have the time for blogs that I did on my mat leaves (or when I had a less challenging career path). But there are still a few people that I drop in on regularly.
I have a bit of a Mabel's Labels addiction. Preschoolers are not only obsessed with taking small objects (like Legos and Hot Wheels) to school, but they're also notorious thieves. Labelling things with quality labels that don't come off is a lifesaver (and a money saver!). So when I meet one of the founders, Julie Cole, at a luncheon last fall, I was super excited.
Then we ended up on a press trip together to DisneyWorld and she told me about her blog. And her SIXTH baby (which was in her barely-visible belly). I was immediately addicted. Julie has a dry, sarcastic sense of humour, but a very practical, no nonsense approach to parenting. How she manages five kids (all still aged in the single digits) and one on the way PLUS running a successful business and still be so chilled out -- it's beyond my skill set, that's for sure!
Her posts are often thought provoking. Whether she's musing on having a sixth child in the middle of a recession, discussing what it takes to be a mom/entrepreneur (I'm not sold on the "mompreneur" title totally, what about you?), or writing humorously about flying to her husband's native Australia with FIVE kids, you always learn a thing or two from Julie.
Anyway, check it out if you have a spare second to yourself. I guarantee you'll enjoy it.
