Pre-soak? No soak? We’ve all been faced with needing stain removal help (stat!) at some point or another. So we asked our readers to reveal their secret tips and this is what we found on Twitter and Facebook:
“Remove pen marks on microsuede by using hairspray and water! Works like a charm.” - @TheModernMama
“A whole lot of soaking in vinegar and lavender oil.” - @JaniceQ
“Lemon juice and sunlight (the real stuff, not the detergent).” -@seedbleyah
“Best way to get oil out of silk: Sprinkle with talcum powder to absorb the spill. Only way to salvage.” - @vodkablog
“Irish Spring bar soap takes out any stain including blood just rub on and hand wash.” -@candelicious
“WD40, now you can get it in a pen. Works on permanent ink, black grease and other nasties.” -Dagmar White
“Folex! I SWEAR by it. I was eating a homemade meatball sandwich, LOADED with mustard and spaghetti sauce. One of the meatballs fell on the LIGHT GREY carpet and left a very bad mustard stain. I sprayed the stain, covered it with a towel, and pounded it with a shoe. Stain was gone! And yes, it works for laundry too.” - Lori Dixon
“A six-hour soak in Oxy Clean powder works miracles. I swear by it. But for grease, I sprinkle baby powder (or flour or cornstarch in a pinch) over those pesky spots and then launder the next day.” – Nadine Silverthorne
“Dish soap. Combine with baking soda for extra help! Just be patient, rub it in and let the cloth sit with the dish soap/baking soda on there to fully soak in. The stuff is made to get grease, stains and nasties off dishes but gentle enough not to damage anything :)” - Sonya Holmes
“Palmolive the green one only!” -@mommydoing
“White wine to get out red wine.” - @lifestylelisa
