It’s less than two weeks away, so I must do this post.
I am dealing with the impossible. I’m talking the serious mindboggling-how-can-this-possibly-be-were-you-raised-in-a-forest-kind of impossible. I am dating the ONE man in the entire planet (well, maybe North America) who does not know February 14th is Valentine’s Day.
Pause. Pause. Let this mindboggling information sink in. I know, right? My Dude thought Valentine’s Day changed DATES every year, like Mother’s Day. “Valentine’s Day is February 14th every year ALWAYS! ALWAYS! ALWAYS!” was my shocked reaction to learn he didn’t know this very important date.
It was like having to tell Santa December 25th is Christmas, but, of course, Santa knows when he should drop off the gifts. Even men (bad boys!) or women who don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day still KNOW Valentine’s Day is FEBRUARY 14th. Do you not see or hear commercials and see red balloons and chocolate everywhere?
My daughter is six and knows what February 14th is. My dude is 45! He has an adoring mother! He had been married for a decade! How could he not know February 14th is Valentine’s Day? I question how his mother or ex-wife NEVER taught him about Valentine’s Day, and, frankly, how he got away with never acknowledging it.
Obviously – very obviously - I’m the kind of woman who loves Valentine’s Day. Yes, yes, it’s a Hallmark celebration, but who the heck cares? Everybody knows even if you hate Hallmark celebrations you still have to “play nicely” (as I tell my daughter) and go out and get that fabulous woman in your life some flowers or a card or maybe make dinner. It’s just what you do!
One woman I know reads my blog is my Dude’s mother (Hi Aviva! Please tell your son to read this. Thanks!)
This is the point it’s gotten to. I’m going to write out a step-by-step list of what my Dude should do. (If you know who I’m dating, please forward this to him.)
Step One: Go to the website www.suetables.com (A wonderful entrepreneur mommy, one of many I LOVE to support. Her jewellery is inexpensive and fabulous!)
Step Two: Go under the heading “Shop”
Step Three: Click on the heading “Shop”
Step Four: Click on “bracelets”
Step Five: See the sterling silver cuff bracelet? Good. (If you don’t know what a cuff bracelet is, ask your mother.)
Step Six: Order it online.
Step Seven: Wait for arrival.
Step Eight: On FEBRUARY 14th, give it to me.
Step Nine: Receive kiss and see my happy face.
See, it’s so easy! And for all you women out there, across North America, who have felt let down on Valentine’s Day (or birthdays or anniversaries before) feel free to e-mail this post or print it out and leave it where your partner will see it. Trust me, the woman makes gorgeous stuff! And you’ll thank me.
Thought that was sweet? You'll enjoy:
