Since the dreaded R word came about, we’ve had to tighten our purse strings a bit. But they seem to magically loosen up every time we pass Below The Belt Kids boutique in Market Mall.
The store has become our favourite hangout since its opening. Sun-kissed, sporty and stylin’ describe the kids we hang with; skating, surfing or snow boarding is how they spend their days. (Clearly, we spend ours at the mall.) Now our cool dudes (and dudettes) in training can get geared up without too much head scratching from Mom.
Junior has been admiring big bro’s Billabong hoodie ($29-49) for a while now, so we dove at the chance to snag him one of his own. We won over our sweet tween with a Bench jacket ($59). (She wasn’t so pleased when Mom came home sporting a similar one). And a newborn Paul Frank onesie ($24) just seemed to find a way into our hands. Well-known brands like Volcom, Hurley, Element and more (in sizes newborn to 16) stock the shelves. Helpful staff answered our clueless questions (without making us feel uncool).
Now all we have to navigate is explaining the big credit card bill to our spouse.
