We know dining out with our tots can feel like a gamble: Will we leave the meal with a nice family memory or a migraine?
Put the pills down. Formerly known as Babyeats, Munch has redefined the family restaurant. Besides selling local and organic food (and having a totally funky urban décor), this place is dedicated to kids’ play with imaginative toys from Naturalpod (sayonara, napkin origami!).
To top this off, on Friday and Saturday nights all summer long, Nannies on Call provides on-site nanny services for a small fee ($15).
We had to pinch ourselves as we sat back on the patio, indulged in a glass of local chardonnay (from $8) and enjoyed a meal that did not include fries and a plastic tray. We loved the herb-crusted goat cheese and fig salad ($12), and the soya steamed halibut with bok choy and shiitake mushrooms ($23) made us forget about the kids all together.
With the Munchkin Menu’s kid-approved meals -- from Turkey Quinoa Meatballs and Brown Rice Pasta to Organic Hot Dogs -- our gastro-boy polished off a meal in between play (a full meal is included with the nanny service, regularly $10).
With no headache excuse afterwards, we’re going to need better birth control on date night.
