Cookies can be delicious, nut-free or 100% natural, but seldom are they all three.
So when we bit into our first Safe Snacks cookie at a charity event earlier this year, we were over the moon. Finally, a yummy snack little Emmy can take to school, camp or playdates that’s nut-free (and seed-free), but isn’t full of white flour and sugar (and all the things that makes mommy go eww).
We’d give anything to keep sending them off with organic kale crisps and dried pumpkin, but when baby cries for cookie, Safe Snacks has our back. Low in sugar (and whatever’s in there is brown) and saturated fat, but high in fibre and full of flax, these where-have-you-been-all-our-lives cookies come in three classic varieties: oatmeal chocolate chip, double chocolate chip and oatmeal & raisin ($1.29/each or $11.99/10 pack).
We adore that they’re each 35 grams (the prefect snack size) and individually wrapped (to safeguard against cross contamination, and save plastic wrap), but the love affair continues with the company’s sweet manufacturing facility that doubles as a kids’ cooking school and birthday party place (that’s kosher, too).
What a breath of fresh, nut-free air.
