On our fridge is a hilariously cute photo of 10 six-week-olds (from our mom group) lined up on a couch. It’s far from photographic brilliance, and we often wondered what all our kids would look like side by side now.
While we were wondering, local photographer Kristina Laukkanen of SugarTree Photography was fine tuning the details for her Portrait Parties ($75/child, a minimum of eight subjects). The idea came about after one Toronto mom’s group approached Laukkanen about having their babies photographed together (it’s since become an annual event to document the group as they grow).
During our incredibly fun hour in the nut-free, Junction-area studio, kids and mamas noshed on healthy snacks and refreshments with Jack Johnson’s Curious George soundtrack playing overhead (each session is tailored to the age group). We added individual shots ($25/child) netting us an additional 10 solo shots to choose from. Within two weeks Laukkanen sent us a password protected online gallery to view our choices. Now we have a fantastic 4x10 print (included in studio fee) that’s definitely going in a frame, or possibly on one of SugarTree’s fabulous photo jewellery options (from $50).
We always thought we had the coolest mom group (with the cutest kids). Now we’ve got the pictures to prove it.
