Birthday party season is just around the corner. In fact, with our little one's growing gaggle of friends, it seems like it's always birthday season.

Saving us (and 15 screaming party animals) from home cooking disasters: Crazy About Cupcakes' mini treats. Hand-baked and delivered by Montreal mom, Tanya Bouzaglo, we'll be ordering several of these to-die-for delicacies for our next big occasion. (With extras to reward ourselves for stuffing dozens of loot bags).

These aren't run-of-the-mill sweets; each one is lovingly decorated with our choice of whimsical candy art (think goblins, superheroes, hockey sticks and more). Our favourites? The vanilla cupcake with vanilla cream ($1/mini, $2.25/regular) may be small in size but it's big in flavour. And the chocolate filled with oreo cupcake, topped with oreo buttercream ($1.25/mini, $2.50/regular) is sinfully delicious.

The way we see it, our chasing and cleaning up duties earn us one sweet treat per kid. (Double for our neighbour's little menace.)
