Parenting Distilled

Toronto (Oct.25.07)

This is the afternoon we had imagined: Dragging our cute rug rats through the Distillery District while we hoped to heavens they wouldn't break anything at Found ObjectsActive ImageBut it must be our lucky day. Instead of negotiating trips to the SOMA Chocolate's gelato bar ("Billy, if you can let mommy finish her Oasis Spa pedicure, mommy will treat you to a big scoop of Dark Venezuelan chocolate!"), we found a mess of children friendly goods. Our first stop is near the gates at Lileo where we clear the shelves of their Neal's Yard Baby Balm ($22, great for mommy's hands too) and The Laundress's Fabric Fresh Baby Spray ($18, to freshen everything from change tables to daddy's jeans). After splashing in puddles in the centre courtyard, we head over to Segway of Ontario for some oh-so-cozy children's Mammoth Crocs and Croc Rain Boots ($34.99). Despite having armfuls of stash, we can't resist the vintage pedal cars from Auto Grotto ($210+) straight from a Bonnie and Clyde film.

After all that retail therapy, we admit we all need a little gelato at SOMA's. (Good behaviour should be rewarded, right?)
