Whoever conceived the saying “sleeping like a baby” obviously never had one. As luck would have it, we’ve got the “I’m-not-even-going-to-blink” baby model. (We should have known from the bleary-eyed look on the stork’s face upon delivery.)

That’s why we’ve enlisted the help of The Sleep Doula, Tracey Ruiz ($150 consultation or $35/hour in-home support).

Just like a birthing doula (a woman experienced in childbirth who provides advice, information, emotional support and physical comfort to a mother before, during and after childbirth), Tracey and her team teach techniques for putting our wee one down. And we’re more than a little relieved to hear that this group of experts doesn’t adhere to just one technique.

The service is tailor-made to our child and our parenting style. But really, when they’ve been known to help clients get a whopping 10 to12 hours of continuous sleep, we’re willing to try it their way (or any way).

And by the time Tracey leaves (it usually takes two to five days to work her magic), we’re so happy we could cry. But we’re too busy drooling on our pillows fast asleep to bother.
