Picture Imperfect

The last time we checked, the purpose of family portraits was to capture us as a family – not as hand puppets. SilvershadowShaking off our plastic smiles, we call Shannon Eckstein of SILVERSHADOW Photographic Images. This award-winning Vancouverite has been featured in international press and exhibitions, and as of this summer, she’s moved her studio to Toronto. Her goal: To photograph us just being us (how novel is that?). Rather than dressing the brood in stiff collars and ruffles, Shannon starts the bunch off with a one-hour consultation so that we’re as comfortable around her as we would be in our living room. Our photo shoot is a breeze and all we have to do is play with our tykes in the sand or toss them up in the air as we usually do.

By the time we receive our package of prints (minimum $500 with custom framing/albums available) we can’t believe how beautiful a tickle attack or even a tantrum can look through Shannon’s lens. They look like little angels. (We’ll be sure to remember that the next time we find jam in our hand bag.)
