Sore Winners

Who do we choose to handle our sore pregnant body? The burly massage therapist whose mantra is “no pain, no gain”? Or the pithy masseuse whose hands shake in fear while handling our ankles? AvitaThe answer is neither. We’re turning to Avita Massage Therapy Centre, North Shore’s premier massage clinic. Although they offer a wide range of services for everything from chronic pain to stress relief, it’s their pregnancy massage ($45-$153) that has us waddling back. In fact, we can waddle back as many times as we like all the way up to our ninth month.

It’s all thanks to their custom electric pregnancy tables that allow us to lie face down (oh, how we miss sleeping on our stomachs!). Unlike other face-down contraptions we’ve experienced, Avita’s features a custom elastic abdominal cradle. Which means we don’t feel like our bellies are squeezing through a hole during our session.

The best part? We get to leave the clinic with a complimentary goodie bag for new moms. We would applaud – if only our relaxed arms didn’t feel like spaghetti noodles.
