5 places to get halloween confectionsToronto
(Oct.28.11)

We don’t think it’s fair for kids to be the only ones getting treats at Halloween, so we sourced out the best places for you to get your Halloween sugar high on this year. Since dressing up isn’t mandatory for these sugary confections, we love them all the more. We might consider grabbing an extra treat for the little ones, but sweets they don’t know about certainly won’t hurt them.
Prairie Girl Bakery
Jean and her friendly staff can’t wait to help you live life one Prairie Girl cupcake at a time (although we have been known to want more than one). For the week before Halloween and right up to November 1st they will be producing a fabulous Chocolate Orange cupcake; Grandma’s Dark Cocoa Cupcake swirled with fresh Orange butter icing and topped off with a cute Halloween sugar topper ($2.95 for regular, $3.95 for gluten free).

Bobbette & Belle
This splendid shop has a selection of top-notch Halloween treats in addition to their regular confections. In addition to some seriously delicious Halloween-themed cupcakes ($4.50), bat macarons ($2.50) and spiderweb cookies ($4.00), B&B also makes delightfully delicious homemade marshmallows ($5.00/bag) in several flavours (passion fruit, raspberry, vanilla, chocolate and toasted coconut) with the option of having them roasted on site. Yes, please.

Two Moms Baked Goods
We won’t be able to resist snagging a few treats from this Kosher and Nut Free bakery for ourselves this year. For Halloween they will be creating some spookily decorated sugar cookies (bats, ghosts and pumpkins, oh my!), and are also promising to produce a few special cupcakes: green slime cakes, dirt cakes, spider cakes, and pumpkin cake pops ($2.50 - $4.50). If you’re looking for something sweet to do with your tot, they also have (Kosher and Nut Free) weekly hands-on baking classes, PD day camps and birthday parties.

San Remo Bakery
Slightly off the radar in Etobicoke/Old Mimico, this traditional Italian bakery is a haven for sugar-toothed monsters (meaning us). Family-run for over forty years, it is steeped in sugary goodness. This Halloween, they will be carrying a variety of Halloween-themed cookies ($2.00 - $3.00) and cupcakes, ($3.00 - $4.00) ranging from Frankenstein to bats and ghosts. You can also pick up dinner while you’re there and indulge in a delicious espresso while you wait for your order to be packed up.

Bakes and Goods
As soon as we stepped into this bakery where they specialize in nut-free cookies, cupcakes and cakes, we were enveloped in deliciousness. It was difficult to choose just one treat, but we settled on a beautiful cookie bouquet (starting at $36.00) for the centerpiece on our Halloween dinner table. We are looking forward to munching on a few ghosts’ heads and crunching on a few black cats’ tails while our little ones get into their costumes.
