We've been longing to get back to our pre-baby yoga practice, but leaving with just a mat tucked under our arm doesn't really seem feasible at our current life stage.
New to Maa Yoga Studio, Family Karma Yoga has our family (and our chakras) aligned. And while we aren’t about to don a tutu for our daughter’s ballet class, yoga is a hobby we’re happy to enjoy together.
The class is offered every Saturday and is open to all gurus ages five and up. While it's not quite what we remember yoga to be, the class is reminding us of what children are best at: Learning to take ourselves less seriously.
From stretching our way through downward facing dog to going through our sun (or daughter) salutations, family time doesn’t get much better than this. We love that we’re managing our stress levels, learning focus techniques and getting some exercise—all while bonding with our little ones (we like to call it two birds, one “om”).
And because the class is by donation only (with all proceeds benefiting a local charity) we’re feeling good while doing good (which sure beats the Hokey-Pokey).
Talk about om-azing.
