We have always thought original pieces of art were highly overrated. That was until our own pint-sized Picasso starting whipping up masterpieces of his own.
We didn’t have the heart to trash those precious first creations. We are so glad we didn’t since we have recently found local artist Lucy Curtis and Scwibble. Preserving those first scribbles by transforming them into a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork that will grace our home forever is what she does best.
Upon submitting our favourite piece to Curtis, each "scwibble" is designed and printed as an archival quality giclée (a highly specialised technique to reproduce fine artistic works) on acid-free canvas or 100% cotton art paper ($380). Open up the purse strings and have it silk-screened by hand onto either a raw silk or canvas ($530). Depending on the piece it is either framed behind glass or stretched on a wood frame. The uninhibited, innocent and carefree style of a child always makes for the best pieces.
When this piece goes up for auction, we will without a doubt be the highest bidder. This is one original that is not overrated.
