We remember our dressy dreams ending when we learned we were having a boy. There was an immediate moratorium on all things pink and frilly. How could we possibly enjoy dressing a boy? (Because, really, it’s all about us.)
Grace Sanchez MacCall felt our distress and launched Tyke Threads in response. Focusing on quality (and hipster-respected) brands for boys aged 0-4, Tyke Threads aims to banish boyswear boredom. Finally someone understands our need to selectively outfit our trendy toddler and our preppy preschooler.
Ignoring the department store idea of boys clothing (licensed characters, dinosaurs and all things vehicular), this online store is packed with favourite lines like Appaman, Wonderboy, Knuckleheads and the much-coveted, incredibly hard to find Ben Sherman boys’ line. Adorable Riley Roos shoes provide a practical footwear option (that won’t be on every foot in playgroup).
Forget a spring bonnet – we scooped up this Houndstooth Fedora ($28) for our wee Sinatra. We teamed the hat with Ben Sherman’s super-cute Born and Bread tee ($30), a pair of Appaman board shorts ($36), and these Morgan and Milo no-lace slip-ons ($49).
Putting that outfit together gave us such a thrill! Who says dressing girls is more fun?
