Sure, we try to play it all cool and nonchalant, welcoming the corny-cute gifts from family and hand-me-downs from other parent friends. But secretly we covet the stylish get-ups of celebrity babies like Shiloh Jolie-Pitt and Kingston Rossdale.
Not so secret (now) is our favourite guilty pleasure: A trip to Oakville’s JetBaby, where we can stock up on Ed Hardy onesies ($43) and Rolling Stones bibs ($15) for our wee one.
A former wardrobe stylist, owner Joanne Wright shares her impeccably cool taste with a selection of handpicked rock tees (loving the new Beastie Boys, $30), surf/skate brands and retro toys (like The Original Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine, $29) and books for newborns and up.
At our last visit we debated over miniature Converse versus Vans for our mini-me, but that was before we spotted Robeez-style skull and bones shoes from Me-In-Mind ($32). And now we can’t decide between the funky Disney Couture tops ($29) and Harajuku Lovers infant hoodies ($65) for our next pink baby shower, or the Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots ($25) and John Deere toy sets for little dudes.
We never thought we’d be getting our celebrity fix in the burbs, but JetBaby makes it easier than going to a gossip site.
