We wish we could have told our partner about our impending arrival the way that Wilma Flintstone did: By knitting a pair of baby booties. Only our booties would look more like collapsed cat’s cradle string.
That’s why we’re turning to The Purple Purl to show us how to become lean, mean, knitting machines. Besides teaching us the basics (as in the basics needed for us to not curse ourselves with every cast on and off), this knitting centre offers classes in creating our very own baby stuff. Once we’ve graduated from Learn to Knit ($49), we can move on to Mittens 101 ($65, perfect to cover tiny hands). But what we really want to learn is how to make a Top Down Baby Sweater ($65). In only four hours, we can make the perfect little top for our bundle of joy thanks to super instructor, Denise Powell.
Now if only we can figure out how to knit ourselves another jar of pickles…
