Dust This Line Off

Every once in awhile, we come across something we first fell in love with P.C.E. (that’s “pre-child era”) and somehow forgot about in the baby bustle.

Imagine our excitement, then, when we discovered Babydust, the reincarnation of Vancouver designer Heather Young’s line, Dust, which she retired when she had her own baby last year. With the same clean lines, playful details, and high-quality fabrics that we loved in Dust, it wasn’t hard to fall in love with the new collection of boys and girls’ clothing.

Working primarily with linen, cotton, wool and silk, Young sews every piece herself, ensuring easy diaper access, comfort, and of course, cuteness. Favourites include the red cotton-linen Thai pants ($40) with an elastic back and snap button front, the lilac linen pleated dress ($68), adapted from a 1950s pattern with gathered cuffs and a striped silk hem, and the cotton denim jumper ($58) with the hand-painted bird. And to top it all off, we also love the lightweight wool polka dot jacket ($45).

And if everything reminds us of the original Dust women’s line, well, we love that, too.
