Whatever happened to Mary Jane? (And why do such cute shoes bear her name?)
According to Wikipedia, Mary Jane was the sister of the circa 1902 comic character Buster Brown, to answer our own question. And while she probably didn’t wear either couture classics (handmade entirely of one piece of 100% vegetable-tanned Italian lambskin) or ones approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association (having non-slip, water-resistant soles, elasticized backs and adjustable straps, and cushioned insoles) -- she did have charming taste in shoes and a name that stuck with them.
