Just because our bottoms aren't back to pre-baby size, doesn't mean we've given up on being our pre-baby fashionable selves. Here to help us hide our last few pounds is Yael Panet, our favourite family stylist...
With the weather getting warmer, what are some spring trends for Moms who are still getting over their excess baby weight?
If you are a mom who has recently given birth, this is the season for you! Spring is all about loose items. Thankfully, the days of fitted tops and skin-tight jeans are long gone. The trend has moved towards baggy “boyfriend” jeans (Current/Elliott is a favourite), unstructured T-shirts, and over-sized blazers (Smythe is my personal go-to label). What could be better than looking stylish while disguising your last few pounds of baby weight?
Another trend to look out for this spring is the plaid shirt. I personally think that a button-up shirt is the perfect way to hide a post baby belly, especially one with a bold print such as plaid. And if the shirt is too tight to do up over your chest (gotta love nursing), layer it with a tank and leave the top buttons open. Roll up the sleeves and you have a look that is both current and comfortable.
In footwear, we are still seeing the gladiator sandal. You can bring those out from last year’s storage and enjoy the fact that the trend is still here (at least for now). The flat sandal looks great with everything from a pair of jeans to dresses and skirts.
When shopping for new items this spring, remember that it's a season where comfort is a major trend. What more could a stylish mom ask for, other than a little sleep?
