Sometimes we don't have the time (or energy) to get dressed up. Even when we're doing a school drop-off or running to get groceries, we'd still like to look good. Here to help us look fashionable (but still comfortable) is our style expert, Yael Panet...
Even when we're busy (and exhausted) we want to look put together. Can you give us any tips?
How to dress casually and comfortably is an issue I encounter with moms on a regular basis.
For many, their idea of how to dress when running around with their kids is to throw on a pair of workout pants (specifically lululemons) and a sweatshirt and head out the door. This is not a good look. Totally appropriate for working out at the gym, but not for running errands or lunching. One of the topics I preach to my clients is just that. Workout wear is for working out. Period!
There are many ways to dress casually and comfortably while still looking put together.
Start with a cute printed T-shirt. There are tons of them on the market at every price point (go to any of your favourite stores; Old Navy for a more reasonable price point or TNT for some trendier, higher-end pieces). Pair it with neutral colour cargo pants such as grey, green, khaki or white. These pants while comfy should still accentuate your body and not look sloppy. Finish the outfit off with my personal favourite, a pair of Converse sneakers in black. They are classic and always look cute whether they are worn with jeans, shorts or cargos.
I would also recommend to throw an accessory into the mix. Be it a cotton scarf, great necklace or fun belt. Make it your own (to quote the American Idol judges). Just remember… workout wear is great for the gym.....but not the mommy and me class.
