Whenever my family goes on vacation, we check out every attraction our destination city offers. Whether it’s amusement parks, museums, zoos or sporting events, we do them all. So why is it, that after living in the same city for half my life, we haven’t seen most of the attractions available to us locally?
Some of this may be the vacation mentality of sight-seeing while you’re visiting a new place you may never revisit. At the same time, the town where you live is all about getting the kids to school, going to work, making supper, and repeating it all over again the next day.
Looking for a great way to save money on a vacation? Try a staycation. Chances are there’s a water park or restaurant you’ve never been to that can turn a quiet weekend into a great experience. Want to feel more like you’re actually on vacation? Consider staying in a hotel (especially with a pool and hot tub), you’ll still be saving a bundle by not paying the airfare and car rental that a destination would require.
If you can’t find time to jet away for a far-off vacation, all the more reason to try this form of frugal vacation. A mini-vacation is made easy; find a nice hotel, do some shopping, go to a play, and enjoy your time together, exploring the city you’ve never seen.
