Snow is on the horizon, which inspires thoughts of winter vacations. While some people enjoy the slopes, my wife and I would rather get away to somewhere warm. However you spend the season, there are a few ways you can save money.
Planning a ski trip? Save money by renting a condo with friends or family instead of staying in a hotel. To reduce the price of both lodging and lift passes, consider going Monday through Thursday (as a bonus, it will also be less busy!). Book your discounted lift tickets at Liftopia.com.
Other winter activities can be done for free (or at least on cheap), such as skating, tobogganing, snowshoeing and building snowmen. Try to work these into your winter vacation to add some variety without adding to the bill.
If you’d rather be on the beach, great deals can be found on Hotwire.com and Expedia.ca – especially if you’re flexible on dates. If you’re going to a resort, consider an all-inclusive. While it might cost more up front, you won’t be constantly charging your card for meals and drinks.
While it’s sad to see summer go, at least there are many ways to enjoy a winter vacation and save some money at the same time!
