SweetMama We Love: Josie Bissett
Hometown: Seattle, Washington
Mom to: Mason (10) and Maya (7)
Also known as: "Jane Mancini" (Squee! How much did we LOVE Melrose Place?), actress, author of the PTPA Award-winning book The Tickle Monster.
Turns out eternally gorgeous actress, writer and mom, Josie Bissett is an all-round nice person too (meaning we can't stay mad at her for her great genes). Her first children's book, The Tickle Monster ($18) has matching tickle mitts ($10 - sold separately), making it a unique opportunity for bonding with and loving on our own babies. And while we can't make ourselves look like her, we can share her SweetMama secrets and sweet finds.
SM: What’s your secret to raising them fabulous?
Teaching them love, compassion and forgiveness by my own example. Tell them I love the many times a day, let them make mistakes, teach them that it is okay to disagree as long as they communicate and not fight.
SM: What’s been your biggest challenge in balancing motherhood and the other parts of yourself (work, me-time, writing, etc.)?
The biggest challenge is going from work mode to mommy mode and making the transition from being on set, traveling or writing to cooking, cleaning, homework, lunches... you get the drift!
SM: Knowing what you know now, what’s the one thing you wish you could tell all new moms or moms-to-be?
Don’t spoil your first child. They will be the role model for your second child.
