Hometown: York Region, ON
Mom to: Emma (8) and Benjamin (4)
Also known as: Executive Director, Foundation Studio Marketing and Promotions
SM: Tell us a bit about your business?
Foundation Studio Marketing and Promotions is a company that helps parent owned companies create and implement affordable marketing solutions for their business. The idea was born in 2006, but did not really take off until 2008.
SM: What’s your secret to raising them fabulous?
Being open and honest about everything. Our experiences as parents and as people in general; telling them about our successes has made them see that anything is possible, but also telling them about our faults and mistakes lets them realize that even parents don't know all the answers.
SM: What’s been your biggest challenge in balancing motherhood and the other parts of yourself (work, me-time, touring, etc.)?
Finding a happy medium. I struggle with this schedule and that one, trying to find the one that works for this family. When I finally grasp that we're ever changing and a "normal" schedule won't work, I think I'll get it right then.
SM: Knowing what you know now, what’s the one thing you wish you could tell all new moms or moms-to-be?
It's OK to ask for (or admit that you need) help. Dropping the kids off at the babysitter's so you can go home and crash on the couch is not a bad thing - it actually makes you a better parent (as long as it's done in moderation) to recharge and take some time for yourself.
What is the one item you can’t live without for yourself?
 |
My mascara - AVON SuperShock: even if I have been awake multiple times during the night or haven't even slept, I slap some of my mascara on and I am instantly awake and look like I've slept forever!

What is the one item you can’t live without for your children?
 |
They each have their own "sleep" stuffie, even my eight-year-old still sleeps with hers. Consequently if they're missing their stuffie - mom and dad don't sleep either. Unfortunately they don't make them anymore, so I pray we don't lose them!
